Every audiophile knows Audio-Technica, a brand that is well know thanks to it's very high end audio products such as headphones, mixers, microphones for domestic and professional use. Lately there's a rumor that the brand decided to enter the gaming market presenting a new headset, we are talking about the ATH-AG1X, which from what has been announced looks very promosing.
Here is the list of the specs:
HEADPHONE SPECIFICATIONS
Type: Closed-back dynamic
Driver Diameter: 53mm
Frequency Response: 5 – 35,000Hz
Maximum Input Power: 1,000mW
Sensitivity: 100dB/mW
Impedance: 50 ohms
Weight: 320g (without cable)
Cable: 1.2m and 2.0m extension
Connector: 3.5 mm (1/8”) mini stereo, gold-plated (4 pole)
Accessories included: 2.0m extension cable (2 x 3.5mm plugs for audio and mic), windscreen
MICROPHONE SPECIFICATIONS
Element: Condenser
Polar Pattern: Supercardioid
Frequency Response: 100 - 12,000Hz
Open Circuit Sensitivity: -41dB (0dB=1VPa, 1kHz)
The proposed price is of about $300, which is really a lot of money and probably the price will be even higher here in Italy.
I'd like to conclude with a personal thought, that has to be taken with precaution.
The gaming market is one of the most flourishing in the PC scope, a lot of manufacturers approach it to gain a little slice of it, and usually this wording is just a bait.
I wanted to make this little personal remark because usally I'm asked about gaming products, of not well known brands and with very low prices. As I always said, you get what you pay for and the peripherals are no exception, the real question is if it's really worth it.
