The Freewrite is a project born on Kickstarter way back in 2014, initially called Hemingwrite and the idea was to offer a writing device, (and that’s all it does!) "without any distraction" with a retro design.
The Freewrite embodies a 5.5” e-ink display (like the one used on e-books to be clear) and a mechanical keyboard, the files saved in text format may be synced with Dropbox, Google Drive and Evernote.
It is a proper toy for hipsters, those guys that shut themselves hours in a Starbucks, with that kind of coffee with unpronounceable names, contemplating the wood of the tables asking themselves existential questions, and starting from today they can do all of this with a FREEWRITE saving every of their thoughts or articles on Dropbox, Google Drive or Evernote, then later forced to use a "NETBOOK" or a "NOTEBOOK" or a "LAPTOP" to post or share them on the socials, while they could have used any of the mentioned devices to do that, but hey… who am I to tell people how to live!.
All this for the modest sum of $500, I’m serious, $500 for something that has the same functionality of a paper block and a pen, oh and I almost forgot, it includes a WiFi and the battery lasts weeks...
Well I could have avoided to write this news but anyway I did it and for way less than $500, and I didn’t even get distracted while doing so!.
La Freewrite è un progetto nato su kickstarter nel lontano 2014 col nome di Hemingwrite ed appunto l'idea era quella di offrire un dispositivo di scrittura, (perchè fa solo quello!!) "senza distrazioni" dal design retrò.
La Freewrite incorpora un display da 5.5 pollici e-ink (quello degli e-book per intenderci) ed una tastiera meccanica, inoltre i files memorizzati in formato testo possono essere sincronizzati con Dropbox, Google Drive ed Evernote.
Insomma è un vero e proprio giocattolo per hipster, di quelli magari che si chiudono ore intere negli starbucks, con quella sottospecie di caffè dai nomi impronunciabili, a contemplare il legno dei tavolini ponendosi domande esistenziali, e da oggi potranno fare tutto questo con la FREEWRITE e salvare i loro pensieri o articoli su Dropbox, Google Drive ed Evernote e magari poi costretti ad usare un "NETBOOK" oppure un "NOTEBOOK" o un "LAPTOP", per pubblicarli o condividerli sui socials, quando avrebbero potuto usare uno qualsiasi dei dispositivi citati per fare tutto, ma hey... chi sono io per dire alle persone come devono vivere.
Il tutto per la modica cifra di $500, dico sul serio, $500 per un qualcosa che ha la stessa funzionalità di un blocco di carta ed una penna, ah dimenticavo ha il WiFi e la batteria dura settimane...
Beh avrei potuto pure evitare di scrivere questa news ma ormai l ho fatto e per molto meno di $500, e non mi sono nemmeno distratto nel mentre che la scrivevo!.
